Instameet – COACH PUPS
“We wanted the Instameet to reach dog owners who spend lots
of time on Instagram,” said a Coach spokesperson.
Well, before you know it, The Wong Dogs along with Sam and
Pecan were parked outside Coach’s flagship store to check out all the fuss.
Because of the international advertising #coachpups
campaign, Coach threw a store event unlike anything I have attended before.
Forget free flow of drinks and tapas, this time it was about out furry friends.
GET A CARICATURE!
There is just something that gets me excited when someone
illustrates my furkids. On one hand, I am telling their stories, while the
artist got to work.
STYLE & SHOOT
Okay, I skipped the fuss of the styling station and went straight
to the photoshoot. Oh, each picture was accompanied by Coach dog tags with the
names of my boys engraved!
LET’S SHOP!
Last but definitely the coolest, bringing our furkids into
the store! Granted, our pups needed to be in tote bags (Coach no less) and due
to Cole’s size, he could not enter. But hey, it was quite experience and it was
quite hilarious displaying Cory and Pecan at various sports in the store!

COACH PUPS is an international campaign by the accessories
and lifestyle brand which “celebrate the dogs in our lives and captures pups’
unique personalities as they model Coach Fall 2015 star bags”. Photographed by
Stephen Miesel, pop star, Lady Gaga is the first celebrity to showcase her
French Bulldog, Miss Asia Kinney for the launch of the campaign. Model Miranda
Kerr (Frankie) and singer Ariana Grande (Toulose) are the latest COACH PUPS to
be featured. More than just a campaign to push their leather wares, Coach has
also donated towards animal shelters such as the No-Kill Los Angeles shelter
and Downtown Dog Rescue. What is even cooler to me, these are not made in the
names of their celebrity owners but the canines themselves!
iPhone users can download the Coach App and start sharing
pictures of their furkids modelling various Coach totes and accessories. Simply
#coachpups on Instagram and your picture might be featured on the brand’s
website.

A Pool Party - Spend Time With Them Now
By now, you would have realised that The Wong Dogs
prefer the Sunny Heights pool over the rest. I love visiting my favourite
pet-friendly cafes and dog parks. But there are times when Cory and Cole need
to release that energy and burn a few calories. So, to the pool we go!
But more than the trip down, is the personal time I get to
spend with them. From the way they finished their laps to relaxing in the
water, looking up at me with so much love and happiness in their eyes.
So, whether it is at the dog swimming pool, a hike or even
an outing to the dog park… The question remains, how much time have you spent
with your furkid this week? The weekend is here. The decision is yours.

After-Swim Brunch – Ah B Cafe
After months of
anticipation (eight months to be precise), Ah B Café is finally open for
business at Sunny Heights! The Wong Dogs dropped by late December after their
swim at Sunny Heights’s Swimming Pool and took in everything this new kid on
the block has to offer with Sam Forrest Loo Lim and Pecan! Now, the question is… Will Ah B Café join the ranks of
Paw Petradise and Happenstance Café and have Cory and Cole coming back for
more?
THE WONG DOGS REVIEW
You might be
wondering, “Is it just me or are The Wong Dogs a little slow in covering new
pet-friendly cafes?” Well, truth be told, I am a little picky. More often than
not, these first visits have me leaving disappointed and another possible blog
entry down the drain.
But with Ah B Café, I
get a sense of comfort when I entered their premises. Maybe it is from the
adrenaline rush of Cory and Cole finishing up their hour-long swim. Smelling
fresh from their long renovation works, the cheery demeanour was also seen in
the staff here.
An ode to their
location which is near forested areas, Ah B Café tells me that the décor is
inspired by the greenery surrounding them. I love the expansive space and
with an elevated area, I foresee many pet owners relaxing by the
comfortable cushions for hours on end.
“We
want our customers and furkids to feel at home. This is why we built the stage
and added beanbags to make our café cosier,” they say. But wait, that is not
the end. In fact, there are some plans in the pipeline to improve on their
aesthetic in the near future.
Food-wise, the
selection is nothing to brag about and could do with more choices for picky
diners.
However, Ah B Café makes up for it by offering above average-tasting
nosh. Yes, it is still your typical Western-fare but the Teriyaki Chicken and
house special, Ah B Burger (it never hurts to have a signature, right?) should
have customers reordering when they return. Also, who can resist breaded drumlets and chicken wings?
“Based on our own recipes, the
patties in our Ah B Burger are made fresh every day. Even our sauces are made
by us,” they revealed. To beef up their menu selections, Ah B Café tells me
that there are plans to expand their dessert selection and include a couple
more dishes to the list, “We are hoping to include some Japanese cuisine!”
Note: Parking is free
but limited. No worries, there are more free lots to be found next to Premier
Pitch Indoor.
Operating Hours
Tuesday to Friday: 130pm to 9pm
Saturday: 12pm to 9pm
Sunday: 12pm to7pm
Closed on Mondays.

Post-Christmas at Gardens by the Bay
After reading blogposts by WeLiveInAFlat and some pet owners visiting the Christmas Village
Gardens by the Bay, I wanted to see for myself the different Christmas
structures with Cory and Cole.
Yes, I guess the beauty
of the Christmas Village is best captured at night. But foreseeing hordes of
people and not being able to photograph the boys properly, I just made do and
visited in the day.
Though the rainy
weather made for a big no-go on grass (the muddy patches were a huge turn off!)
the cool weather at 8am made one just enjoy the serenity of the Gardens. Daily
thunderstorms in the afternoon the past month have robbed us of many evening
walks and just exploring the entire area was therapeutic!
In the end, I was not
so much impressed by the Italian Luminarie light sculptures but the quiet
moments I got to spend with Cory and Cole. In fact, I got to bring mum to visit
the Heritage Gardens – themed mini parks that showcase plants linked to
Singapore’s four main races.
For those wanting to
visit Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay, the light show has been
extended till 4 January 2015!

Treat Of The Week – Grandma Lucy’s Organic Oven Baked Dog Treats
Distributed by B2K Pet Products Singapore,
Grandma Lucy’s Organic Dog Treats is the latest range of treats to be retailing
here in Singapore. Aimed at pet owners who are conscious about what goes into
the diet of their furkids, these oven-baked goodies are GMO-free, contain no
by-products, no artificial colouring flavours, sweeteners and preservatives.
Grandma Lucy also uses raw, human-grade ingredients which are sourced locally
in the United States, which are USDA-inspected.
Though relatively new here in Singapore, Grandma
Lucy’s Organic Dog Treats has been available in the United States for more than
a decade. Friends living overseas have also assured me that the brand has had
quite a good reputation all these years and so far have not been involved inany food recalls.
But how will these new range of treats
stand out in such a competitive market and will pet owners be swayed to feed
their canines organically today?
THE
WONG DOGS REVIEW
I have
always loved the use of fruits in the diets of Cory and Cole. However, peach
was a relatively new ingredient for the boy so I am still a little biased
towards blueberries. Apprehension grew as I realised there are no meat
proteins included. Some Singaporean pet owners have also bemoaned the the
absence of popular proteins such as lamb and chicken, citing reasons such as
picky dogs.
However, The Wong Dogs are not too concerned as Grandma Lucy’s
Organic Oven Baked Dog Treats are not meant to be a complete diet. In fact, a
little meat-free treats might do them good in the long run as there have been
studies showing that a diet that has too much protein can lead to several skin
and kidney issues.
Upon
opening the bag, I immediately realised the strong aroma of fruits which got
many of the canines at the dog park running towards me.
The human taste-test
revealed Grandma Lucy’s Organic Oven Basked Dog Treats to be quite tasty. No
wonder Cory and Cole could not get enough of these little teddy-bear shaped
biscuits. Also, one of the mantras of Grandma Lucy includes, “If
it is not good enough for humans to eat, it will never be included in our food
or treats…”
Retailing
at $26.90, it is a slightly more expensive than most treats. But for a
relatively large bag of organic (human-grade) and oven-baked treats that have
been USDA-inspected, the price is actually quite reasonable.
Most
interestingly, these treats are certified Kosher though one might question how
this might be relatable to the majority of Muslims here in Singapore.
Especially where there is still a stigma against owning or even touching a dog.
Singaporeans
will be glad to know that the entire range Grandma Lucy’s Organic Oven Baked
Dog Treats is available here and The Wong Dogs cannot wait to check out, and of
course for Cory and Cole sample the rest, such as Cranberry and Pumpkin! Hmmm…
Since Peach and Blueberry tasted quite good, I might even steal a couple from
my next few bags! :p
